Here you will find the difference between local time on the island and other
countries, together with the most widespread office hours.
What
time is it on La Palma? - Up
The Canary Islands use Greenwich Mean Time. In summer,
however, we have to add an hour, so it will always be an
hour earlier than on the Spanish mainland and Balearic
Islands. Just to give you an idea about the time difference
with the other European countries, have a look at the table:

What
are the shop opening times? - Up
- From Mondays to Fridays, shops are open from 9 a.m.
to 8 p.m. and they usually close from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.,
except in the shopping malls. On Saturdays, they are
open from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., except in the shopping malls.
In the tourist resorts (mainly, Puerto Naos and Los Cancajos),
supermarkets and shops are open even on Sundays and on
public holidays.
- Chemists are open from 9:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. and from
4:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. However there is a duty chemist open
in every municipality. You can find the duty chemist
in the local newspapers and in the window of every chemist.
- Petrol stations open as follows: from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m.
However, some petrol stations (in El Paso and Breña
Alta) offer a 24-hour service.
- Post offices can be found in every municipality
and they open from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. and on Saturdays
(only in Santa Cruz de la Palma) up to 1 p.m.
